Editor's note: Ms. Cobb is referring to Dave Dale's column Opinion: Dave Dale: Ford is right, for once

To the editor:

With regard to the opinion expressed by Dave Dale, I recognize that he has a right to express it but he should study history more thoroughly as there are two sides to every coin.

There is not a government in the world that has not committed injustices based on false evidence of the past but most (with the exception of notables such as Russia and China) have recognized the error of their ways and are attempting many forms of reconciliation as Canada is doing. So too did the monarchy as led by this Queen over her long Reign.

As a matter of fact, Queen Victoria started the reconciliation process a hundred years ago. Queen Elizabeth continued this effort even as she served in WWII and led a nation and the commonwealth in recovery from those horrific times in our history.

Today we have so many individuals who stand only for themselves and not for the good of a nation. That deeply saddens me as does the expression of the opinion shared by Dave Dale in his column.

He needs to respect the history, the dignity, the work, and the honour upheld by the monarchy and express his opinion in a more respectful way.

Respectfully submitted,
Karen E Cobb
