Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing Executive Director Alan McQuarrie says they offer many helpful services at no cost to the public.

If you're struggling with stress, debt, or any other issues impacting your mental health, there's a place you can go to access many services at no cost.

The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing (also known as CCCNIP) is there to provide help, guidance, and steps to making your life better, according to Executive Director Alan McQuarrie.

"We are convinced that psychotherapy is the most powerful tool in the health care system today.  Countless people are seeking medical help today for issues that had their origin in how they think.  (Our) walk-in clinic starts with the mind and helps people find health and wellness at the place where health starts," he explains.

That's why the centre, located at 361 McIntyre Street East, offers no-cost walk-in clinics every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 7:30 pm.

"Many people seek the services of our walk-in clinic.  Some people are experiencing a crisis or a major change in their life and they're looking for input and insight on how to move forward.  Some people are just looking for a fast access single session instead of waiting in line for regular services," adds McQuarrie.

He goes on to say that "people attend for an opportunity to hear advice on a key decision they're making or a major life change.  Some people come to walk-in because there are large waiting lists at mental health and addictions organizations.  The single-session model is geared to maximize the strengths that people bring to the session often we are looking at quick wins.  Many people don't realize that they have a solution in the back of their mind and it just takes the work of the walk-in clinic to bring that solution forward and to implement it."

The centre offers a wide range of assistance including addictions services, counselling for men or women who've been sexually abused, postpartum mood disorders, and more.

You can explore all of their services on their website.
