This week, Second Saturday Stories continues its run of Skeleton Unburdened. Today's feature is Chapter Three of A noir thriller set in 1920 that follows a Private Eye through the nightmarish landscape of his memories and the dark underworld of post-War North Bay.
Percy Slate is a haunted man. Guilt over his dead wife plagues him, and he finds himself holed up in his old office waiting out a group of determined cops led by his ex-brother-in-law Harry Clemens. Harry has threatened Slate with a jail cell if he doesn't meet him at a train that evening, but the deadline is coming fast.
Percy elects to run rather than help his old friend but soon finds himself stalled while scouring his old office for supplies. Visions from his past, both real and imagined, terrify him with memories of violence and lost love. Is everything he experiences a product of his whiskey-addled brain, or are there otherworldly forces doing the devil's work?
Find out today at 3 pm, look out for 'Haunting in 1920: are you brave enough to look?' along with the traditional Second Saturday Stories title card.
