Second Saturday Stories brings you part one of  a crime thriller from columnist Mark French later today. Mark is a local writer working on creating fiction and is steadily working toward publishing. He has had a mystery thriller featured in a monthly writing group composed of local authors and writers known as the Conspiracy of 3. Mark has also received honourable mention for work submitted in the NYC Midnight online short story challenge, an international writing competition, in 2021.

When a police cadet stumbles upon a dead body while repaying a mob debt, he has ten minutes to find the killer. That' the tag line for this week's featured story titled 'Bullet Drop.' It takes you to a modern day housing development where a cocky constable in training is forced to put his money where his mouth is after losing big in a mob run poker game. The first instalment of the story is fraught with tension and ends on a cliff hanger that is sure to keep the reader holding their breath until the continuation next time in Second Saturday Stories.
