Mitigomin Fundraiser

Called to action by the discovery of 251 unmarked graves located on the grounds of the Kamloops Residential School in 2021, the Mitigomin Social Enterprise builds cultural understanding and creates a path toward reconciliation through the sale of our aromatherapy felted acorn diffusers with carefully selected retailer allies; the acorn itself can be seen as a way to honour the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples in this province and across Turtle Island.

Our unique aromatherapy diffuser is raising funds to support Indigenous causes—and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the process. Read their about their social enterprise journey here.

To-date, we've raised over $25K and sold more than 3, 500 aromatherapy diffuser acorns across Turtle Island!

This is my fourth year fundraising for the Woodland Cultural Centre – home of one of the last standing residential school buildings in Canada – now reclaimed by the Indigenous community in Brantford, Ontario.

'Mitigomin' refers to wood or tree as well as to a small and globular berry in Ojibwemowin.

We have adopted this word to describe our Social Enterprise fundraiser using acorn 'hats' to handcraft aromatherapy diffusers.  See how we make these below:
