Based in North Bay, the Survey Technician will report to the Survey Crew Chief and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on conventional surveying services. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of traditional surveying services as well as construction monitoring, precision layout, and high-definition 3D laser scanning.

What You’ll Do:

The Survey Technician will be part of Geomatics team. You will:

Organize field equipment and supplies
Ensure all field equipment is accounted for and maintained in good working order
Demonstrate the essential skills related to the use of all field equipment used to perform job responsibilities
Assist in the collection of field data using various survey instruments, levels, and GPS field equipment
Clear away bush and trees from lines of a survey as needed

Who You Are:

You have at least two (2) years experience working in the survey field (considered an asset)
You are proficient in the use of various survey instruments, calculators, levels, and GPS field equipment or have the aptitude to learn
You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork
You are someone who makes decisions/exercises independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will have completed at least a two (2) year college program in Civil Engineering Technician or Technology or have equivalent experience. Additionally, you should have:

High motivation with results-oriented focus
Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
Ability to manage and navigate confidential and sensitive data and matters
A valid, Class G driver’s licence
