Bear sightings This spring, the North Bay Police Service has received the following reports of bear sightings from concerned citizens: May 5: Ongoing sightings of bears on Larocque Road. May 31: Sighting of two bears at chip stand, Hwy 11 North.

Callander skateboard park open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Municipality of Callander has opened its skateboard park for the summer. Located at the Recreation Centre on Swale Street, the park is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the summer months.

Weekend Occurrences Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 230 calls for service that resulted in 6 arrests. Offences included public intoxication, domestic assault, breach, mischief and drug trafficking.

Assault A North Bay man faces one charge of assault today following an altercation that took place downtown in the early morning hours. On Friday, June 6, 2014 at approximately 2:20 a.m.

Street Crime On June 4, 2014 at 8 p.m., two men from Hamilton and Toronto were stopped in a rental vehicle.

Fraud and Theft over $5000 Suspicious cash transactions made at Nipissing University were brought to the attention of the North Bay Police Service on May 30, 2013, following the institution’s internal investigation and forensic audit.

Parents charged with neglect of baby On Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at approximately 7:18 p.m., a mother brought her 15-day-old baby to hospital in North Bay.
