On Tuesday Sept. 5 2017, the accused attended the residence of friends. While at a residence it is alleged the accused threatened to kill the individuals with whom he was visiting. North Bay Police were contacted in relation to the threatening complaint. Later the same day, the North Bay Police received a call of an unwanted male at a fuelling station on Algonquin Avenue.

Upon police arrival the male was identified as the accused in the threatening investigation. Police attempted to take the male into custody when he began to resist arrest. Police were able to complete the arrest with the assistance of additional officers.

Charged is:

Rusty Powell, age 40, of North Bay with:

  • 2 count of uttering threats
  • Assault peace officer with intent to resist arrest
  • 2 counts of breach of probation

Not either the victims or officers received injuries during this investigation.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On Tuesday Sept. 5 2017, during the early evening, suspect(s) used a crowbar to pry open a side door of the Parkside Animal Hospital, located at 6 Lakeshore Dr and gain entry. Taken from the business was a cash box which contained a small amount of cash. The North Bay Police are currently investigating.

On Tuesday Sept. 5 2017, during the early evening suspect(s) threw a rock, breaking a window at Absolute hair and esthetics, located at 1371 Fisher St. A small amount of change was taken and a laptop. The North Bay Police are currently investigating.

On Tuesday Sept. 5 2017, at approximately 8am, the North Bay Police responded to an alarm at the Fox and Fiddle restaurant, located on Spencer Ave. The business had an insecure door; officers entered and cleared the business, nobody was located inside. It appears nothing had been taken at this time. The North Bay Police are continuing to investigate.

On or between Aug. 23 and Aug. 30 2017, unknown suspect(s) entered a property in the 500 block of McIntyre St West and took a tree ornament from the property. This ornament has sentimental value to its rightful owner. If anyone has information regarding this theft, please contact Constable N.
