Man faces assault with a weapon charge
North Bay Police were immediately dispatched to a business parking lot on Lakeshore Drive yesterday afternoon following a 911 call from a witness reporting a disturbance involving a man with a sledgehammer.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Roy Louis Desvreaux, age 24, of Bonfield at the scene and charged him with:
one count of assault with a weapon; and
one count of possession of a dangerous weapon.
On Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the driver of a pickup truck was travelling from Oak Street East, over the overpass to Lakeshore Drive with the accused as his passenger.
A road rage incident between them and the driver of another vehicle travelling in the same direction led the two drivers to pull into a business parking lot at Lakeshore Drive and Mulligan Street. It is alleged that the accused then exited the pickup truck, pulled out a sledgehammer and threatened the other vehicle’s driver with it.
The male victim was not injured.
Police seized the sledgehammer as evidence.
The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for December 29, 2015.
The North Bay Police Service thanks the witness for calling 911 to report this incident to police.
