Domestic violence at local restaurant leads to charges

Following an investigation into a report of an assault that took place outside a North Bay restaurant early Tuesday morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 33-year-old North Bay man with:
One count of domestic assault; and
One count of domestic assault causing bodily harm.

It is alleged that at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in a local restaurant, a verbal dispute between the accused and his female partner turned violent when he punched her. Following his eviction from the premises, the victim followed him, despite the restaurant staff’s attempts to prevent her from doing so.

Later, while the couple was outside the premises, it is alleged that the accused punched her again causing her to fall. He then left the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Shortly before 1:45 a.m. this morning, police located the accused at his North Bay residence, where a warrant for his arrest was executed.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service is withholding in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 26, 2016.

Yesterday evening, following an investigation into a domestic assault that was reported to police on Tuesday, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 29-year old North Bay man with:
one count of assault with a weapon;
two counts of assault; and
one count of mischief under $5,000.

It is alleged that on Monday, July 18, 2016, a verbal argument between the accused and his female partner in their shared residence turned violent when the accused threw a can of pop at her and pushed her. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result. It is also alleged that the accused assaulted the victim on a separate occasion in their residence in the past. He is also accused of damaging her cell phone on another occasion in the past following a verbal argument that took place in their home.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service is withholding in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 26, 2016.
