The North Bay Police Service’s traffic officer, working in partnership with patrol officers, conducted a targeted traffic enforcement yesterday morning on Algonquin Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and on the overpass from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

The results are as follows:
23 speeding tickets issued (the highest speed was 73 km on Algonquin Avenue);
two distracted driving tickets issued (drivers were using cell phones);
one ticket issued for not stopping at a red light; and
three 72-hour notices issued for documentation (drivers have 72 hours to show police their insurance slip or validation stickers, or otherwise face a fine.)

Man accused of assault causing bodily harm

Yesterday afternoon, a complainant contacted police to report that he had almost been hit by a vehicle while crossing the street on his longboard at Main Street East at Fisher Street and that he had been assaulted by the male driver who had exited his vehicle and engaged in an altercation with him.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged the complainant:

Michael David Clark, age 23, of North Bay with:
one count of assault causing bodily harm.

It is alleged that at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Main Street East at Fisher Street, following an altercation between the accused and the male driver, the accused struck the driver with his longboard. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for May 31, 2016.
