Long Weekend Occurrences
Over the long weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 303 calls for service and arrested and charged 14 people with the following offences:
One person was charged with one count of carrying concealed weapon, one count of uttering threats, three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of weapon possession for a dangerous purpose and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon;
One person was charged with one count of domestic assault;
One person was charged with unlawfully at large;
One person was charged with impaired driving, driver over 80, and breach of recognizance;
One person was charged with criminal harassment
One person was charged with indecent exposure;
Five people were charged with breaches; and
Three people were charged with public intoxication.
Woman faces several charges
Following an investigation into an assault with a weapon and threat complaint reported to police in the early hours of Sunday morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged:
A 26-year-old North Bay woman with:
One count of carrying concealed weapon;
One count of uttering threats;
Three counts of assault with a weapon;
One count of weapon possession for a dangerous purpose; and
One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
It is alleged that on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at about 1 a.m., while she was being held for a mental health assessment at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, the accused pulled out a folding knife she had hidden in her possession and proceeded to assault and threaten a developmental services worker, who was not injured and who immediately contacted two security guards for help. The accused then used the knife to stab at two separate doors that security guards were holding closed. One security guard suffered minor injuries.
Following her arrest at the hospital, police transported her to police headquarters where she was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Public’s assistance sought in investigation into suspicious fire
At about 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, North Bay Police were dispatched to Terrace Road in Callander following a report of a suspicious fire. A trailer parked on a commercial property was burned beyond repair. Nobody was injured.
