Man faces charges for theft and fraud

Following an investigation into a theft and fraud complaint that was reported to police on December 22, 2015, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 30-year-old North Bay man yesterday evening with:
One count of theft under $5,000;
Two counts of make forged document;
Two counts of use, deal, acts on forged document; and
Two counts of fraud under $5000.

It is alleged that sometime between November 15 and December 2, 2015, the accused took two blank cheques from his employer’s North Bay business. Following the theft, the accused forged his employer’s signature twice and deposited the two forged cheques into his personal bank account, the first time on December 2 and the second time on December 15. The total amount deposited was just under $2000.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 29, 2016.
