Search for drugs leads to charges

On Thursday, Apr. 20, following an ongoing investigation and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on an apartment in a residential building on Clarence Street in North Bay, officers with the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit charged three individuals.

Narcisse Aldege Rivet, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on site and charged with:
Two counts of possession from the purpose of trafficking;
One count of possession of property obtained by crime; and
One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Rachelle Evelynn Hurtubise, age 25, was arrested on site and charged with:
Two counts of possession from the purpose of trafficking;
One count of possession of property obtained by crime; and
One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Alvin James Corbiere, age 46, was arrested on site and charged with:
Two counts of possession from the purpose of trafficking; and
One count of possession of property obtained by crime.

As a result of the search of the residential unit, police seized as evidence:
27 Oxycodone pills;
53.5 grams of marijuana;
$1,220 in Canadian currency;
four knives, two of which were deemed as prohibited weapons—one is a “butterfly” knife and the other is a “flick” knife

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is $2,800.  

All three accused are residents of the apartment. Rivet was held in custody for a bail hearing. Corbiere and Hurtubise were released from custody with court appearances scheduled for May 30, 2017.
