Lost wallet with prescription drugs
At 10:20 this morning, a North Bay resident reported to North Bay Police that she lost her wallet last night at approximately 10:30 p.m. when she was at McDonald’s on McKeown.
Police are concerned for public safety as inside the wallet were two opioid pills that were prescribed to her for pain.
Misuse of narcotic pain medication can cause addiction, overdose or death, especially in a child or other person using the medicine without a prescription.
Anyone who finds the wallet is asked to contact the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555, or bring it into police headquarters at 135 Princess Street West, North Bay.
Man faces charges for historic break-ins
Yesterday, following a number of historic break and enter and theft investigations, which included the gathering of evidence at the scenes by the North Bay Police Service’s Forensic Identification Officers, North Bay Police arrested Leonard Steven Michael Hollett, age 52, at his North Bay residence and charged him with:
Three counts of break, enter and commit theft;
One count of attempt break and enter; and
One count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
It is alleged that on Oct. 17, 2008, the accused broke into a business located on Fisher Street and stole a number of retail items estimated at over $8,000 in value. As a result of this investigation, he faces the charge of break and enter and commit theft.
On Oct. 27, 2009, at approximately 3 a.m., North Bay Police responded to a report of a large transport truck found idling outside a residence on Fourth Avenue East. Police spoke with the registered owner of the truck, who identified the truck as stolen. Further, police spoke with the homeowner, who informed police that someone had attempted to break-in to the residence. As a result of this investigation, Hollet was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and attempt break and enter.
It is alleged that on Feb. 16, 2016, the accused broke into a residence on Front Street and stole belongings estimated in excess of $17,000. As a result of this investigation, he faces the charge of break and enter and commit theft.
It is alleged that on Apr. 21, 2016, the accused broke into a business on Main Street West, broke into a drawer inside the business that contained a cash box and stole approximately $100 in cash. As a result of this investigation, he faces the charge of break and enter and commit theft.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
