Bicycle thefts

This morning, a complainant contacted the North Bay Police Service to report that two bicycles were taken from the back of a residence located on Main Street West sometime between 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 and 8:30 a.m. today. Both bicycles were locked.

Man faces charges for domestic violence

North Bay Police were immediately dispatched to a North Bay residence early Wednesday morning, following a 911 call by a concerned citizen reporting a suspected domestic violence incident.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 52-year-old North Bay man with:
Two counts of domestic assault; and
Two counts of forcible confinement.

It is alleged that a verbal dispute between the accused and his female partner in their shared residence shortly before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 turned violent when he repeatedly punched her. The police investigation also revealed an historical assault that occurred on Apr. 30, 2016, when it is alleged, the accused strangled her. It is also alleged that in both cases, the accused prevented the victim from fleeing their shared residence after he assaulted her.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assaults.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Theft from vehicles

The North Bay Police Service is currently investigating a number of reports of thefts from parked vehicles which occurred sometime overnight between Tuesday, Oct. 18 and Wednesday, Oct. 19 in the following areas:

One report on Parkwood Drive
One report on Blair Street
Two reports on Tackaberry Drive
One report on Maplewood Avenue

Loose change was reported stolen.
