Threatened random knife attack downtown leads to man's arrest

North Bay police have arrested a man for arson

Police have charged a North Bay man with "assault with a weapon" after threats were made in the downtown area yesterday.

The victim and accused are not known to one another.

The North Bay Police Service responded at 7:30 a.m. on September 21, in the area of Main Street and Fisher Street after a man, already on probation, brandished a knife and threatened to kill the victim.

Police found and arrested him a short time later on Wyld Street and also recovered a weapon.

James Watkinson, 44, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Watkinson was held pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
