Stranger approached child at local school bus stop say police

The stranger advised the student that the bus was cancelled and the student's mother asked him to take the student back home

OPP are concerned after a stranger tried to trick a child waiting for a school bus into leaving with him.

North Bay OPP responded to a complaint after an unknown person approached an elementary student at a school bus stop on Highway 94, in East Ferris just before 9 yesterday morning.

The stranger is described as a man, 30-40 years of age, wearing a blue shirt and grey transparent glasses. The person had a cut on the bridge of his nose and was wearing a mask.

The man told the student that the bus was cancelled and the student's mother asked him to take the student back home.

"The student was able to run home, lock the doors, and then observed the person leave in a vehicle," stated Constable Rob Lewis.

The vehicle is described as;

  • a white four door vehicle (unknown type),
  • rust on the bottom of the doors,
  • a large scratch on the rear passenger door,
  • a smaller scratch on the front passenger door,
  • front passenger headlight was broken,
  • the rear taillight was in the shape of a triangle and there was something black inside the vehicle.
