Novice driver charged with impaired after he hits traffic lights

A Huntsville novice driver faces liquor and distracted driving charges after his vehicle struck a traffic light in that town today.

Huntsville OPP arrested and charged Tyler Godin-Blake after investigating a single motor vehicle accident.

Just after midnight, police responded to the single vehicle collision on highway 60 at the intersection with Szawloski Drive. The vehicle collided with a traffic light post causing damage to the traffic lights, say police in a release.

Godin-Blake, 28, is charged with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired
  • Failure to comply with a demand
  • Novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero-      
  • Drive a motor vehicle with liquor readily available-      
  • Drive a motor vehicle with handled communication device
  •  Careless driving

Godin-Blake was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on September 27 in the Ontario Court of Justice Muskoka.
