The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration says a threat that was deemed serious and credible enough to warrant further action was made directly to staff early this afternoon.

“The District of Nipissing Social Service Administration Board (DNSSAB) initiated in cooperation with the City of North Bay, a lock down procedure to prevent access to the building, for the safety of the public and staff,” said Joseph Bradbury, CAO.

An individual claimed to be coming to city hall with a gun, says a statement issued by social services.

All threats are taken seriously, said the statement.

“The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board would like to thank the police for securing the building and the timely response ensuring the safety of the public and staff,” said Chair Mark King.
