Man charged with break and enter

On Nov. 10, following an investigation into a theft complaint, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 27-year old North Bay man, who rents a room from the victim, with one count of break, enter and commit theft.

It is alleged that on Nov. 10, 2016, the accused entered his landlord’s bedroom in their shared residence, without permission, and stole a number of prescribed Percocet pills.

The accused was later released with a court date scheduled for Dec. 20, 2016.

Man faces drug charge

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, while on general patrol, a North Bay police officer observed suspicious activity taking place in a vehicle parked on Seymour Street. Following an investigation, police arrested, searched and charged the driver:

Daniel Kumar Parasram, age 28, of Heidelberg, Ontario with:
One count of possession of MDMA (Ecstasy) for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police seized from the accused a small quantity of MDMA (Ecstasy) in powder and pill form, as well as drug paraphernalia as evidence.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for Dec. 13, 2016.

Man faces domestic-related charges

On the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 9, North Bay Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a violent argument between a male and female outside, at O’Brien and Front streets. Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 19-year-old North Bay man with one count of domestic assault and one count of breach of probation. The accused was also charged with one count of forcible confinement related to a separate incident involving the same victim, which allegedly occurred in their shared residence earlier this year.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Fail to stop collision leads to charges

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, North Bay Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Lakeshore Drive following a call from a complainant reporting a single-vehicle collision: a car hit a light pole in a parking lot and the two male occupants fled the scene on foot. The vehicle’s front end was extensively damage, its air bag deployed, and its back window shattered.

North Bay Police located and arrested the two suspects on Manitou Street a few minutes later. Following a search of their persons, police seized over 117.1 grams of marijuana.

As a result of the investigation, police charged:

Joey Oscar Sampson, age 20 of North Bay with:
One count of trafficking marijuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
One count of fail to stop at scene of accident under the Criminal Code;
Two counts of driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code; and
Two counts of breach of probation under the Criminal Code.

Aaron Patrick Gauthier, age 24 of Kirkland Lake with:
One count of trafficking marijuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
One count of breach of recognizance under the Criminal Code;
Two counts of breach of Officer in Charge undertaking under the Criminal Code; and
One count of breach of probation under the Criminal Code.

Both were held in custody for bail hearings.
