Weekend Occurrences

Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 193 calls for service and arrested and charged eight people with the following offences:
One person was charged with three counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of uttering threats;
One person was charged with one count of theft under $5000 and one count of breach of undertaking;
Two people were charged with impaired driving and drive over 80;
One person was charged with impaired driving, drive over 80, and fail to stop at the scene of an accident, all under the Criminal Code;
Two people were charged with public intoxication; and
One person was charged with one count of trafficking cocaine; one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

North Bay man faces charges related to domestic incident

Following an investigation into a domestic incident that occurred in a North Bay residence shortly before midnight on Sunday, May 15, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 33-year-old North Bay man with:
Three counts of assault;
One count of assault with a weapon; and
One count of uttering threats.

It is alleged that in November 2013, the accused assaulted his female partner with a household object in their shared residence. It is also alleged that on separate occasions in March 2014 and in April 2016, the accused assaulted her in their shared residence. He is also accused of assaulting her and threatening her in their shared residence on Sunday, May 15.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of these alleged assaults.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service is withholding in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was held in custody for a bail hearing.

North Bay man faces charges following collision

Following an investigation into a traffic complaint reported on Friday evening, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 56-year-old North Bay man with:
One count of impaired driving;
One count of drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood; and
One count of failing to stop at scene of accident, all under the Criminal Code.

It is alleged that on Friday, May 13, 2016, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the accused was driving his vehicle westbound on McIntyre Street West near Fraser Street, when he overtook a second vehicle, whose female driver was slowing down to make a turn. As a result, the accused collided with the rear end of her vehicle. A witness called police. The accused stopped to get out of his vehicle but fled the scene in his vehicle before police arrived.

Police located the accused in his vehicle a short time later where he was arrested.  He was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for May 24, 2016.

There were no injuries.

Man accused of trafficking cocaine

Following an ongoing Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation, officers with the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit arrested and charged:

Kevin Reddy, age 37, of North Bay with:
one count of trafficking cocaine;
one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; and
one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

On Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at approximately 12:20 p.m., police observed a suspected hand-to-hand drug transaction take place between the accused and a woman on McLeod at Kehoe streets. Following an investigation, police arrested the 29-year old North Bay woman nearby at approximately 12:40 p.m. that day and subsequently searched and charged her with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Police seized 0.4 grams of cocaine from her. She was released from custody with a court date scheduled for June 7, 2016.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, police located Reddy on First Avenue, where he was arrested and taken into custody. After searching him, police seized 2.7 grams of cocaine and $430 in Canadian currency. He was held in custody for bail.

The total street value of the drugs seized in this investigation is estimated at $300.
