Weekend Occurrences
Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 212 calls for service and arrested and charged 11 people with the following offences:
One person was charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
One person was charged with one count of robbery using a firearm, one count of pointing a firearm and one count of use firearm while committing an offence;
One person was charged with two counts of domestic assault and one count of criminal harassment;
One person was charged with domestic assault;
One person was charged with theft under $5,000;
One person was charged with mischief under $5,000;
Four people were charged with public intoxication; and
One person was charged with two counts of breach of Officer in Charge undertaking and one count of breach of probation.
Robbery
On Saturday, following an investigation into a complaint of a June 2016 robbery that was reported to police on Friday July 22nd, North Bay Police arrested and charged two people.
A young person under 18 faces two charges under the Youth Criminal Justice Act:
One count of robbery; and
One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Cody Billy Daniel Lariviere, age 18, faces three charges under the Criminal Code:
One count of robbery;
One count of point firearm; and
One count of use firearm while committing an offence.
It is alleged that in June 2016, the youth, who was carrying a knife, and Lariviere, who had a pellet pistol that resembled a handgun in his possession, entered a victim’s room, located in a shared residence in North Bay, with the intent to rob the victim. They are also accused of threatened the victim with the weapons and of stealing drug paraphernalia.
The two accused are known to the victim, who was not injured.
The youth was held in custody pending a bail hearing, while Lariviere was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing any information that may lead to the identification of the young person accused of committing this crime.
