Between January 20th and January 27th, the West Nipissing Police Service logged 149 calls for service. Among those were 9 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 19 police assistance calls, 5 thefts, 5 unwanted person complaints, and 4 Landlord tenant disputes.

Theft complaint

On January 20th police received a complaint of a theft. The complainant informed officers that she attended at a local restaurant had something to eat and when she left she forgot her wallet. She returned to the establishment a few minutes later but her wallet had already been stolen. Included in the wallet were identification cards and money.

Missing medication

On January 21st, police attended an elderly resident’s home in response to medication being missing. Police learned that the elderly woman was missing two Fentanyl patches. This type of prescription medication is often sought after by individuals with addictions, as they can be consumed or distributed easily. Police wish to warn individuals that if this medication can cause serious medical issues including death.
On January 22nd, police responded to a complaint of theft at a local business. The officer attended and spoke with the store employee and learned that the male suspect had been observed taking a cellular telephone box off the shelf and entering the washroom. The male came out with the empty package and discarded it. Upon being confronted the suspect turned over the cellular telephone accessories. A 21 year old Cache Bay man now faces a charge of theft under $5000.
Police are investigating a theft of an I-Phone at a local high school. The complainant called the police to report that the telephone was taken on January 20th and is valued at $400.

Personal items stolen

On January 26th police received a complaint from a Noelville resident. The woman advised that she had moved out of her Sturgeon Falls apartment but had left some personal items behind. When she returned to pick up the items some of them were gone. The complainant advised police that her RCA flat screen television had been taken. Police investigated the theft and have charged a 41 year old Sturgeon Falls woman with theft under $5000.
