Weekend Occurrences

Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 223 calls for service and arrested and charged 15 people with the following offences:
One person was charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of utter threats;
One person was charged with one count of assault with a weapon;
One person was charged with one count of domestic assault, one count of mischief and two counts of breach of OIC undertaking;
One person was charged with one count of robbery and one count of utter threats;
One person was charged with one count of assault police and one count of weapons dangerous;
One person was charged with one count of care or control of a vehicle while impaired and one count of care or control of a vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in blood;
Four people were charged with public intoxication;
One person was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation;
One person was charged with one count of domestic assault and one count of utter threats;
One person was charged with one count of domestic assault;
One person was charged with one count of breach of OIC undertaking; and
One person was charged with three counts of breach of probation.

Man charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats

Following an investigation into a threats complaint reported to police on Saturday evening, North Bay Police arrested:

Jeffery Jean Paul Chevrier, age 23, at his North Bay residence and charged him with:
One count of utter threats; and
One count of assault with a weapon.

It is alleged that during the evening of Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, the accused threatened two male victims, previously unknown to him. Later that evening, outside his residence, the accused picked up a shovel and brandished it towards the victims, who left the scene without injuries.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Man faces assault with a weapon charge

Following an investigation into a report of an assault that took place early Sunday morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 19-year-old North Bay man with
one count of assault with a weapon.

It is alleged that at 4 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, at his North Bay residence, the accused struck a male victim with an ice pick. The victim, who is known to the accused, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of this occurrence.

The accused turned himself into police headquarters shortly before midnight on Sunday where he was arrested, charged and later released with a court date scheduled for Oct. 11, 2016.

Domestic occurrence leads to charges

Following a concerned citizen’s call to police early Saturday morning reporting a person yelling from a unit in a North Bay apartment building, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 23-year-old North Bay man with:
One count of domestic assault;
One count of domestic mischief; and
Two counts of breach of Officer in Charge undertaking.

It is alleged that on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at approximately 3:10 a.m., the accused assaulted his partner in their shared apartment and also damaged the unit. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of this incident.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Young person accused of robbery and threats

In downtown North Bay on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, North Bay Police observed a young male threaten a male victim and then take his backpack. As a result of an investigation into this incident, police arrested the young male at the scene and charged him with one count of robbery and one count of uttering threats. The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Missing person located

On Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, the North Bay Police Service issued a news release requesting the public’s help in locating Ashley Alexandra Piche, age 25, of North Bay, who was reported missing.

At 9:45 p.m. on Friday, thanks to a concerned citizen’s call to police and local taxi companies who helped with this investigation, the North Bay Police Service located Ashley in North Bay and reports that she is safe.
