Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 221 calls for service and arrested and charged nine people with the following offences

Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 221 calls for service and arrested and charged nine people with the following offences:
One person was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation;
One person was charged with one count of criminal harassment;
One person was charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of fail or refuse to provide sample and one count of breach of Officer in Charge undertaking, all under the Criminal Code; and issued Provincial Offences Part III summons for driving while under suspension (remedial and unpaid fines), permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle, operate motor vehicle (no insurance) and drive motor vehicle (no permit);
Two people were charged with public intoxication;
One person was charged with one count of theft of motor vehicle;
One person was charged with one count of assault and one count of uttering threats;
One person was charged with one count of trespass by night and one count of theft under $5,000; and
One person was charged with one count of breach of recognizance.

Theft from vehicles, man faces charges

The North Bay Police Service thanks the concerned citizen who called 911 shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday morning to report suspicious activity. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 19-year-old North Bay man with:
One count of possession of property obtained by crime; and
One count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 14, 2016, the accused entered unlocked motor vehicles on Beattie, Jane and Copeland Streets and stole numerous items.

As a result of the investigation and search of the accused, police seized as evidence:
alcohol;
food items;
a pair of glasses;
a stuffed animal;
a vehicle owner’s manual;
vehicle hardware; and
loose change.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Man charged with criminal harassment

Following an investigation into a 911 call to police early Sunday morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 24-year-old Corbeil man with one count of criminal harassment.

It is alleged that on Sunday, August 14, 2016, shortly after 1:30 a.m., a female pedestrian observed an unknown man walking on the roadway on Algonquin Avenue. When she called out to him, suggesting he should move off the roadway for his own safety, he began to yell at her, follow her and chase her. Fearing for her own safety, the victim called 911. Police located the accused shortly thereafter on Front Street, where he was arrested.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 27, 2016.

Traffic stop leads to several charges

Early this morning (on Monday, August 15, 2016, at approximately 2:13 a.m.), North Bay Police observed an SUV with a British Columbia licence plate, drive down a grass embankment from a parking lot located on the 1400 block of Seymour Street. Shortly thereafter, police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Franklin Street at Seymour Street.

As are result of the investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged the vehicle’s 26-year-old male driver, of North Bay, with:
one count of impaired driving;
one count of fail or refuse to provide sample; and
one count of breach of Officer in Charge undertaking, all under the Criminal Code.

Police also issued multiple Part III summons to the accused for the following Provincial Offences Act offences:
Driving while under suspension (remedial and unpaid fines);
Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle;
Operate motor vehicle, no insurance; and
Drive motor vehicle, no permit.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing today.
