Man accused of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
Shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 31, 2017, following a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation and a traffic stop conducted on Station Road, North Bay Police patrol and Street Crime Unit officers arrested and charged:
Collins Appau Dako, age 31 of Mississauga with:
Two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; and
One count of possession of property obtained by crime.
As a result of the search of the accused after his arrest, police seized as evidence:
Approximately 68.9 grams of cocaine;
Approximately 198.4 grams of marijuana;
$420 in Canadian currency; and
Four cell phones.
The street value of the drugs seized is estimated at over $10,900. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Three inmates face charges
On Sunday, following an investigation into a disturbance that occurred at the North Bay and District Jail on Wednesday, Mar. 22, 2017, North Bay Police charged three inmates:
Clayton Quakegesic, age 35, was charged with:
one count of unlawful assembly;
one count of mischief over $5,000; and
one count of arson.
Randall Wabano, age 31, was charged with:
one count of mischief over $5,000;
one count of arson; and
one count of breach of probation.
James Deveaux, age 18, was charged with:
one count of mischief over $5,000;
one count of arson; and
one count of fail to comply with sentence.
It is alleged that the three accused caused extensive damage to the inside of the building and also started a fire from within. The Institutional Crisis Intervention Team responded and took control of the incident at the time. One guard sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
