Break and enter, assault

The following are news releases issued by the North Bay Police Service:

Break and enter

On the evening of Sept. 14 2017, officers were responding to complaints of mischief to vehicles on Mountain View Drive and received a second call of an alarm to a business in the area.

Two males were approached by police and a short foot pursuit took place resulting in the following charges:

19-year-old Nicholas Turcotte of North Bay and 18-year-old Tate McKinlay of Callander are charged with break and enter, mischief, possession of drugs and prohibited weapon as with as breach of a recognizance.

On the Sept. 14 2017, a residence in the 500-block of First Avenue East was broken into and culprits removed medication, a 32-inch flat screen television, and two guitars.

Break and enter and assault

On Sept. 14 2017, 45-year-old Andrew Sutherland attended a residence in the 1100-block of Fisher Street where the occupants were known to him. Once at the backside of the residence, the accused walked up the back stairs and kicked open the back porch door.

He entered into the porch area where two males were seated. The accused was holding a large stick in his hands, swung the stick at the victims and was yelling at them.

The victims were able to retreat into the rear of the residence while the accused continued to yell at them and swing the stick around in the porch. Shortly thereafter the accused left the area on foot towards Fisher Street.

The North Bay Police Service located the accused and charged him with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. He was held for a bail hearing.
