Attempted murder charge laid against North Bay man

A North Bay man faces assault and attempted murder charges after a fight that involved a weapon Saturday.

On June, at a home in the 100-block of Oak Street East, a man and the victim fought. During the fight, the man assaulted the victim with a weapon.

The victim received multiple, and serious injuries but was able to escape and flee.

He was later treated for his injuries.

North Bay Police arrested and charged Ian Charles Chapman.

While at police headquarters, police say he became aggressive and assaulted one of the officers.

Ian Charles Chapman, 33, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault a peace officer

Chapman is in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
