84 year old charged in Tillicum Bay pedestrian traffic accident

Police have charged the driver of the vehicle that hit a pedestrian on Tillicum Bay Road, Callander on May 12.

The pedestrian was pushing a stroller carrying an infant along the road around 10:30 that morning, and was flown by air Ornge to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said at the time that the infant was not injured. There is no recent update on the pedestrian's injuries.

In a news release, police say as a result of the investigation, an 84-year-old person from Callander was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm, and having an insecure load. Police did not name the person charged.

The accused was issued a Provincial Summons and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 2 in North Bay.
