ONTARIO: Man dies cliff-jumping near Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police say a Thunder Bay man was fatally injured while cliff-jumping at Hawkeye Lake on the Labour Day weekend.

Evan Hinsperger, 30, was pronounced dead in hospital on Saturday evening.

Police said he and another male had both decided to jump from a cliff into the water. Hinsperger suffered critical injuries when he hit the surface.

Superior North EMS paramedics transported him to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he was pronounced deceased.

Hawkeye Lake is located in Fowler Township, about 45 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.
