Police forces will be able to apply for funding for the first year starting today

Update:

The Ontario government plans to invest $6M over three years to expand the coverage of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems.

The goal is to help police services in the fight against guns and gangs.

According to a press release issued by the government today, the investment will be made available through the Ontario CCTV grant, a new program designed to further support police services and hold offenders accountable.

Starting today, all municipal and First Nations police services, as well as the Ontario Provincial Police, will be able to apply for funding for the first year of the CCTV Grant cycle (2020-21).
