Near North teachers holding candidates 'meet and greet'

The Near North Teacher's Local says three of eight political candidates have agreed to a 'meet and greet' Monday afternoon to discuss education issues.

The event takes place May 9, at 4 p.m. in the Lakeshore Room at the Best Western on Lakeshore Drive and is hosted by the NNTL

The NDP, Liberal and Green Party candidates have agreed to be in attendance, according to a news release.

It is scheduled to end before 6 and the candidates will speak to their party's education platforms and then take a few questions.

The Near North Teachers’ Local (NNTL) is one of 76 Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) locals. It represents hundreds of members who are employed as teachers with the Near North District School Board serving 30 elementary schools with over 8,000 students.

It's one of the largest school boards in Ontario, which includes the entire Parry Sound District, a northern portion of the Muskoka District (Mactier), and the central portion of the Nipissing District (West Nipissing, North Bay, East Ferris and Mattawa)
