2021 07 21 Hybrid Voting
For the first time, online voting will be an option for this fall's municipal elections for mayor, city councillors, and school board trustees. Paper ballot voting will also be available in advance of, and on, Election Day on October 24.

There will be no race for the two trustee seats in either the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord and the Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario and quite a bit of turnover.

Each board elects two trustees and exactly two for each board filed the required nomination papers ahead of last Friday's deadline.

The two Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord who have been certified and acclaimed are Nicole Fournier and Roch Prevost.

Fournier retains her position from 2018 and says, "It's an honour for me to continue working with the Conseil Franco-Nord for another term. Catholic and Francophone education is always important to me in order to ensure a bright future for our young people. It is unfortunate, however, that there is not more interest in the positions of school trustees. It is an important role in our community.

"Un honneur pour moi de continuer à travailler avec le Conseil Franco-Nord pour un autre terme. L'école catholique et francophone est toujours importante pour moi afin d'assurer un bel avenir à nos jeunes. Il est dommage, par contre, qu'il n'y ait pas plus d'intérêt pour les postes de conseillers/conseillères scolaires. Un rôle important dans notre communauté."

In the Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario, neither acclaimed trustee, Beau Bedard  and Jules-Pierre Fournier, held a seat in the last term.

Fournier tells BayToday, "I am very grateful for the vote of confidence that the francophone-public community of North Bay has given me and I hope to serve them well.

"Je suis très reconnaissant du vote de confiance qu'a fait la communauté francophone publique de North Bay et j'espère pouvoir bien leur servir."
