Political newcomer Kaitlynn Nicol says she intends to run for West Nipissing councillor in Ward 5.
"I feel that my background in primary education, fitness and homesteading brings a fresh and diversified perspective to the table," she says in an email to BayToday. "I have volunteered as a hockey coach, created fundraisers for local businesses as well as started parent and child programs within our community. But I am eager to do more.
"Our community needs to feel like a community again. We need to feel connected after years of disconnect. I would like to help bridge the gap."
Nicol wants all residents to have access to healthcare, clean drinking water, and the ease of mind that their council is getting the job done.
"Over the next few days and weeks, I will be sharing more of my campaign with the community. I will also be touching base and getting to know my fellow residents better. I’d love to hear what changes you’d like to see. I’m committed to our community."
