Mardi died Sunday, May 12 at Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Centre in Corbeil Ontario. She was 91 years of age.
Mom was predeceased, in 2017 by her husband of 57 years Art Braund. She is survived by her three children Tim (Karin Lunan) Braund, Doug (Jean Griffin) Braund and Missy Feilders, her grandchildren Callum Braund, Fiona Braund, Coleman and Mia Feilders and her sister and brother Mandy (Bill) Macrae and John (Jane) Marshall.
Mardi had a slow decline due to Alzheimer’s but retained her essential Mardi-ness right until she died. This was possible due to the care, love, respect and dignity she received from all of the amazing staff at Nipissing Manor and her two special caregivers Brenda Folsom and Margaret Derosier. In the past, both Maureen McIntosh and Diane Roy also gave mom their love and companionship.
Mom enjoyed time with her friends and took part in many activities throughout her life; gardening, skiing, walking, bicycling, live theatre and music. Reading was a lifelong nourishing pleasure and she passed this love of exploring life and the world through words to all three of her children.
She died the same way she lived; her way and in her own time.
There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
