The Powassan Voodoos are back on the ice after their dramatic 7-game series victory over the defending champion Timmins Rock in the NOJHL East Final on Tuesday night.
The Voodoos will now clash with the high-powered Greater Sudbury Cubs who dispatched the Blind River Beavers in the NOJHL West final in only five games.
The Voodoos are seeking their second NOJHL title after last winning the championship in 2017.
The two teams met 10 times during the regular season, with the Cubs prevailing by going 7-3 overall versus the Voodoos.
Two of those contests were determined via a shootout, while a pair of others were decided by just one goal.
In all, Greater Sudbury outscored Powassan by a 38-31 count.
Action in the best-of-seven set gets underway Thursday in a 7:05 p.m. start at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex in Sudbury.
The Cubs will also host Game 2, which goes Friday, and features another 7:05 p.m. face-off.
From there, the series shifts to the Powassan Sportsplex for the next two match-ups.
Game 3 goes Sunday at 2 p.m., while Game 4 is slated for Monday at 7 p.m.
If necessary, Game 5 will be Thursday, April 25 at Countryside at 7:05 p.m.
Should a sixth contest be required it’ll go Sunday, April 28 in a other 2 p.m. matinee at the Sportsplex.
Game 7, if needed, will be played on Tuesday, April 30, with a 7:05 p.m. puck-drop and Greater Sudbury hosting it at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.
All contests in the league final will also be streamed live, and on demand, via FLOHockey.tv.
The NOJHL champion will move on to compete in the Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons, May 9-19, in Oakville, Ont.
