Barons eliminate Raiders

The ESC Algonquin senior boys soccer team secured their spot in the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory over the Chippewa Raiders on Wednesday night. The Barons jumped out to a two goal lead, as Ghislain Godin and Pat Lavigne both found the back of the net in the first half, but late in the first half Matt Caruso put the Raiders within one as he converted a penalty kick. However Barons keeper Davin North shut the door for Algonquin in the second half, as the game finished 2-1 in favor of the Barons.

The Barons now look forward to there semi-final game which takes place on Tuesday night.

Bears move on

The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears won their NDA Sr. Boys quarter-final match on Wednesday as they cruised by the Northern Braves 5-1 at Cundari Field.

Chris Uttaro, Mike Portugues, Nick Vigna, Lucas Vigna and Corey DeCou scored for the Bears while John Girard scored the only goal for Northern.
