FLEURY: Joseph Angus "Buffalo"

In his 95th year, at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site at 3:00 am, on Sunday August 6, 2006. Angus was the son of the late Andre and Olima Fleury and step son of Alexemia Dupuis. He was predeceased by his brothers
Arthur, Romeo and half sister Constance Lessard. He is survived by his loving sister Adelade McGowan and her husband Ernie. Angus leaves to grieve many more nieces, nephews and relatives.

Angus was employed by the Upper Ottawa Improvement Company, as a seasonal
worker from 1931 until 1965, he was one of the last pioneers of an era. He worked on paddle wheeled boats such as the "Emma Mac", "Meteor" and the "Wilda", then on the wood fired boiler the "Alexandra", then on the stern
wheel paddled wheeler "Lady Minto" which was later converted to propeller driven with coal fired boilers. Angus was honoured to be the man who cut the rope which launched the diesel fired "P.J. Murer", in 1948.


Angus was an avid outdoorsman and trapper from 1925 to 1965. He made his home at McLaren's Bay from 1932 to 2000. He was honoured as the Mayor of McLaren's Bay by his many friends and neighbors.

At Angus's request there was cremation and a Memorial Service will be held in McLaren's on Sunday, August 20th at 3:00 PM. If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.


Angus's family would like to thank Dr. Paul, the nurses and the staff at the NBGH - Scollard Site for all the good care and excellent service provided to him during his stay. It is with sincere gratitude his family wish to thank the Nipissing Manor's management, doctors, nurses and support staff for the excellent care given to him, during the time he called the Manor, HOME.
