BROOKS, MRS ELLEN (nee Cahill)

1926-2006 The family announces with sorrow her death at the Golden Manor on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at age 80 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ovis Brooks in 2003 and is survived by her children Don Brooks (Cheryl) of Timmins and Jeanne Parker of Ottawa. Dear grandmother of Christopher Parker, Scott Parker (wife Holly) and Kelly Heavener-Brooks (husband Kevin) and great-grandmother of Jayna Rae and Sam Parker and Belle, Taylor and Cole Heavener. Dear sister of Howard Cahill (wife Verge) of Campbell River, B.C. and sister- in-law of Arva and Doug McArthur of Markham and Doc and Bernice Brooks of Port Loring. She was pre-deceased by her brother Don Cahill.

Ellen was a longtime member of the Church of the Nativity who was a past-president of the Catholic Women's League. She also volunteered her time to the Meals on Wheels program. For many years, she played an integral role in the family business, Canadian Tire, alongside her late husband Ovis. She was an avid outdoors-person who loved spending time with family at their cottage at Kenagamissi Lake as well as downhill skiing and travelling the world.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 from the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL CHAPEL. Interment will follow later in Port Loring, Ontario.
