Young Sturgeon Falls resident facing weapon and threatening charges

Members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a threatening incident on Front Street in  Sturgeon Falls around 6:30 p.m. on June 21.

OPP say the investigation revealed the accused had threatened the victim with a weapon and subsequently left the scene.

Shortly thereafter, officers located and arrested the accused. The weapon was recovered and seized.

As a result of the investigation, Christian Carriere, age 20, from Sturgeon Falls, was charged with:

  •  Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 6, 2020, in Sturgeon Falls.
