Despite the cool weather on Monday, the North Bay Police Service is pleased to announce that its annual LE Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario, which this year included a 1 km walk as well as the 2 km run, was another success. A grand total of $3,120 was raised from the BBQ, t-shirt sales and a generous $2000 donation from the Canadian Royal Purple Society, North Bay, whose members are pictured above with Chief Shawn Devine and Cst. Merv Shantz.

As well as over 75 local Special Olympics athletes, family members and friends, participants included members of the Military Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Greater Sudbury Regional Police Service, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, North Bay & District Ambulance Service paramedics and members and retirees of the North Bay Police Service.

Organizers of the LE Torch Run thank Stock Transportation for sponsoring two school buses, Burger World for providing the hotdogs and hamburgers and the North Bay Police Services Board for the $250 donation towards the purchase of soft drinks and other supplies.
