Two students from St. Joseph-Scollard Hall have been accepted into the prestigious SHAD summer experience program for the 2016 session.

Grade 12 student Jilleen Kilroy and Grade 11 student Temitope Akintola, will be representing St. Joseph-Scollard Hall this summer. Kilroy and Ankintola admit they are both very excited to participate in the experience, which will focus on developing knowledge in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and math).

“I am thrilled for both Jileen and Temitope,” says Derek Belanger, Principal at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall. “Not only will they be able to connect with their peers from across the country, but it will give them an opportunity to showcase their own skills and knowledge,” he says. “We look forward to hearing about their experience when they return, so we can continue the tradition of seeing our students benefit from this program each year,” he adds.

SHAD aims to empower exceptional high school students by introducing them to a variety of activities both inside the classroom and in educational field trips. The month long summer experience program takes place in July and will be held at a Canadian University selected in part by the SHAD participants themselves. Currently over 30 Rhodes Scholars are SHAD alumni.
