Chairperson of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s Patient Relations Committee is local woman

Canadore College Dean of Health and Wellness, Lisa McCool-Philbin, was appointed Chairperson of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s Patient Relations Committee (PRC) this month.

The special-purpose committee is responsible for advising Council with respect to the Patient Relations Program, which has the purpose of preventing and dealing with sexual abuse of patients by members. They work on initiatives which range from member education to guidelines for the conduct of members with their patients and training for the College’s staff to the provision of information to the public.

McCool-Philbin joined the College of Physicians and Surgeons Council as an appointed public member by the Minister of Health in 2006. In 2012 she began her role on the Patient Relations Committee and in 2016 has been appointed the first-ever public member chair.
