The North Bay Regional Health Centre will get  $300,000 through the Surgical Recovery Fund to reduce the surgical backlog and surgical wait times.

“These funds will allow us to purchase a portable ultrasound unit that can be used to increase our capacity for total knee and hip replacement surgeries,” said Paul Heinrich, NBRHC President. “Not only will it help us reduce the chance of cancellations, but it will also increase our ability to perform more same-day discharges of total joint replacements.”

To complement this increase in capacity, the training dollars will support the training of Operating Room RNs, Operating Room Technicians, Diagnostic Imaging Medical Radiation Technologists and Chemotherapy Systemic Treatment RNs at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
