Tourism North Bay's new video is a mix of old and new.

Tourism North Bay has released a video showcasing "a mix of old city promotional footage with a fun and edgy spin" to encourage travellers to choose North Bay as their four-season northern Ontario destination.

It kicks off National Tourism Week.

"North Bay is a destination like no other, offering visitors a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and inspiring experiences," said Tanya Bédard, Executive Director of Tourism North Bay "We feel this video will resonate with residents as well as pique the curiosity of visitors who are keen to explore further."

"It is important to note that this is not the new official tourism video, however, we felt it would be a great opportunity to re-purpose some existing digital assets that we have been gathering over the years and celebrate National Tourism Week by showcasing North Bay as a fun, friendly destination," said Stacey Gadway, Marketing and Communications Officer.

This video was created using existing footage by numerous local videographers and edited by RFP Media and tourism marketing agency, The New Business to help launch the announcement last fall in Sault Ste Marie that North Bay will be hosting the 2024 Northern Ontario Tourism Summit.

Cogeco provided permission to edit the original footage and local musicians who had re-recorded the classic North Bay Gateway song in 2018, provided permission to use the newly recorded version in exchange for a donation to the North Bay Humane Society.

The cost was $2,500.

"It features stunning footage of North Bay's picturesque landscapes, pristine lakeshores, lush forests, and vibrant downtown scenes. From outdoor activities to sporting events and cultural attractions, the video shares an array of tourism experiences that await visitors in the City of North Bay," says a release.

“The video demonstrates the changes and growth that the community has seen over the years in relation to infrastructure, investment, inclusivity, and diversity,” Bédard continued. “The constant theme that you will notice throughout are the stunning natural landscapes and most importantly, the warm hospitality of its residents.”

Cost of the project is not being released.
