Two officers taken to hospital following collision

On 23rd May at 8:44PM North Bay Police had made traffic stop southbound on Lakeshore Dr at Williams St and were stopped in the curb lane with the roof lights activated.

The police vehicle had been stopped for a few minutes and both officers had returned to the vehicle when they were struck from behind by southbound SUV being driven by a 78 yr old man. The impact drove the police vehicle ahead approximately 6 feet into the rear of the traffic stop vehicle.

Both police officers were taken to hospital by ambulance, treated and released.

Damage to the front of the SUV was severe and it was towed. Damage to the rear and the front of the police vehicle was severe and it was towed. Damage to the rear of the traffic stop vehicle was moderate but it was drivable.

The investigation is continuing.
