Brian Murray’s arrival in North Bay was the final piece of the puzzle for the North Bay Ticats as the team was in a re-building mode.

While there were some glaring holes in the lineup that was filled with quality players, the one missing link was a quarterback.

Having quarterbacked his Rosemont Quebec team to the Little Grey Cup Canadian Junior title in 1959, Murray brought both football and leadership skills to the Ticats in 1964.

Murray made the most of his time with the Ticats, leading them to 4 NOHFC finals and one conference championship in 1965, along with being selected league MVP that year. During his time with the Ticats, he accumulated 250 completions for over 4000 yards, 30 touchdowns, and he also amassed 112 points as a field goal kicker.

Following his playing days, Murray assumed numerous roles with the club including assistant coach, head coach and general manager. Realizing the importance of giving back to the game, he refereed for two years and passed on his knowledge of the game to high school teams.

In addition to his recognition as MVP in 1965, Brian was awarded the Mike Mitchell-Larry Avery Award in 1973, recognizing his contribution to the sport of football.

He was inducted into the Northern Football Hall of Fame in 1988.

What Brian Murray accomplished during his time with the North Bay Ticats speaks not only to his athletic ability, but also to his passion and commitment to the game of football.

Murray will be inducted on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Davedi Club. Tickets for the 43rd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner are available by contacting Larry Tougas (705-303-8104), Trista Grant (705-472-0009), or the Davedi Club (705-474-4190).
