Sûreté du Québec investigators today arrested a young snowmobiler from Markham, Ontario.

On February 20, 19-year-old Jack Fairty-Campbell was snowmobiling along the federated trail in the Mont-Brun sector in Abitibi. His snowmobile reportedly soared off the ground at the top of a knoll and hit an oncoming snowmobile, killing both passengers instantly.

The investigation conducted by the Abitibi-Témiscamingue—Nord-du-Québec regional investigations module, together with traffic accident reconstructionists, indicates that the snowmobiler was travelling at high speed at the time.

Jack Fairty-Campbell will appear in court at the Rouyn-Noranda courthouse on charges of dangerous driving and criminal negligence.
