Multiple people arrested, Fentanyl seized after South River break-in

Almaguin OPP has arrested and charged three South River men after responding to a break-and-enter in that town early yesterday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., police responded to a break-in at a building at the historical train station on Montreal Avenue.  

Multiple people were arrested and 53 grams of Fentanyl was seized. The estimated street value of the drugs is $21,000.

James Carter, 33, of South River is charged with:

  • Break, enter a place with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking - opioid
  • Engage in prohibited activity on premises

Carter appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail Court in Parry Sound yesterday.

Vincent Beasely, 34, and Steven Chrest, 36, are also charged with:

  • Break, enter a place - with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid
  • Engage in prohibited activity on premises

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 25 in Sundridge.
